Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Shadwell
Man with Van Shadwell is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and in full respect of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, workers, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Man with Van Shadwell.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Modern slavery includes forced labour, servitude, child labour, bonded labour, and all forms of human trafficking. We do not tolerate any form of exploitation in our business or in any organisation with which we have a business relationship.
All individuals working for or on behalf of Man with Van Shadwell are required to act with integrity and in accordance with this statement, our internal policies, and all applicable laws. Any breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract, and may also lead to reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man with Van Shadwell provides transport, removals, and associated services. Our supply chain includes vehicle suppliers, fuel providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, maintenance services, and a range of other business and professional services.
We recognise that certain areas of the transport and logistics sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation. We therefore work to ensure that our suppliers and contractors share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and that appropriate controls are in place to manage these risks.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers and contractors to uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing engagement, we seek assurances that:
They comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. They do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour of any kind. They do not employ workers under the minimum legal working age. They provide fair working conditions, including appropriate working hours, wages, and benefits.
We reserve the right to terminate relationships with any supplier or contractor who is found to be involved in modern slavery or who fails to take adequate steps to address identified risks.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance stance, we undertake proportionate checks and audits of key suppliers where there is a higher risk of labour exploitation. These checks may include reviewing policies and procedures, requesting declarations on modern slavery compliance, and, where necessary, site visits or independent assessments.
Any concerns identified through audits or other channels will be investigated promptly. We work with suppliers to develop corrective action plans where issues are identified and will cease engagement where satisfactory improvements are not made.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about any suspected instances of modern slavery or unethical behaviour in our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management, or through our established internal reporting routes.
Reports may be made confidentially and without fear of retaliation. We are committed to investigating all reports appropriately and sensitively. Any substantiated concerns will be addressed through corrective measures, which may include disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and reporting to relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
We aim to ensure that relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management, understand the risks of modern slavery and are equipped to identify potential warning signs. Training and guidance are provided to raise awareness of modern slavery indicators and to explain how concerns should be reported.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As part of the review, we consider feedback from stakeholders, developments in legislation, and any issues that have arisen in the previous year.
Where appropriate, we update our policies, procedures, and supplier requirements to strengthen our approach. Our goal is continual improvement in identifying, preventing, and addressing modern slavery risks within our business and throughout our supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Shadwell and represents our ongoing commitment to upholding human rights and eliminating modern slavery in all its forms.
